Has a board member ever drifted off during the presentation of your financial statements? Benchmarking and dashboards provide, perhaps, a more interesting way to tell the story of an organization’s financial health, and progress toward goals. Benchmarking is helpful, as it generally compares one organization against peers. Dashboards can help tell your financial story without a lot of numbers and detail. A number of examples of dashboards will be reviewed so participants will understand how associations use financial and non-financial measurements and metrics to more clearly portray health of their association, and also understand the value of benchmarking.

Speakers: Timothy Murphy, CPA

Tim Murphy, CPA began his public accounting career at CapinCrouse in 1990, and served the firm in its Illinois, Indiana and Colorado offices. He worked for CapinCrouse for more than five years, leaving as an audit manager. After his departure from traditional public accounting in 1998, he established Nonprofit Financial Solutions, a firm that was dedicated to outsourcing for nonprofit organizations. In 2013, Tim’s practice merged with CliftonLarsonAllen LLP. Tim serves as a principal with the firm and his service group remains focused on providing solutions to nonprofit organizations.
