Many association executives believe that because they are limited by staffing resources (or their tax designation) that advocacy and lobbying is off-limits to them. This is not true! Using the American Alliance of Orthopaedic Executives (AAOE) as a case study, AAOE government affairs manager Bradley Coffey, MA will discuss his organization’s experience with developing a government affairs department for the benefit of AAOE members. Attendees will walk away with tools they can use to implement advocacy in their association and will learn:

  • How to recruit advocacy minded volunteers.
  • How to write for a policy-maker’s eye.
  • How to use the resources available to you to make a difference.
